Brett: Is sales tax expensive in Chicago?

Lori: Um, I don't spend a lot of time in the city.... But I bought a bottle of water last time I was there, and I think it's somewhere around 10%.

Brett: Oh.  10% is the sales tax in DC, too.  At least at restaurants.  I think it may be different at stores, but it's not like I often go shopping for high heel shoes or anything, so I'm not sure.

Lori: I would love to see the faces of the employees if you were trying on heels in their store.

Brett: I don't know, it could be a zen experience for them.

Lori: Awe, probably not.  I could see a spa day being zen-like.  You trying on heels would be a spectacle!
