Go Go Gouda

Shrimp by flickr user misterjt

Lori: Do you devein your own shrimp?

Brett: I don't eat much seafood.  The fishy taste ruins it for me.  I prefer food that comes from the sky.

Lori: Really?  I would have guessed you'd be a big red mean fan.  Land-based food.  I am.

Brett: Yeah, I like land-based food, too.  Especially with some aged cheese.

Lori: Yum.  There should be a cheese-only national chain of stores you could buy your cheese at.  They could call it Cheese Zone... or maybe something more clever.

Brett: Um... I don't think there is a more clever name than Cheese Zone.

Lori: Sure there is.  How about... Go Go Gouda, or Feta Fiesta?  Or something along those lines...

Laundry day

Stain Log by flickr user chaosatlanta

Brett: Do you know if there's anything special I need to do to remove a coffee stain from a dress shirt?  I didn't notice when it happened, but apparently I spilled some at work the other day.

Lori: No, I'm not sure.  If you've already tried bleaching the bejesus out of it... I'm out of ideas.

Brett: I haven't tried anything yet.  And it's not that bad of a stain.  But it's not a white shirt, so I think bleach would ruin it.

Lori: Oh, what color is it?  I just assumed it was white for some reason.  I wonder if being so presumptuous puts my qi in any danger.

Brett: The shirt is blue.  I think I'll just take it to the dry cleaners, and if the stain doesn't come out, the shirt will just have to exit my normal rotation.

Pardon our French

French Horn B & W by flickr user tatasiu

Lori: What is you opinion of the French horn?

Brett: Well, I hope this story doesn't bore you, but I briefly played the French horn in high school.  I was mainly a trumpeter, but experimented with other three-valve brass instruments.  (French horn, flugelhorn, baritone, valve trombone... That may be it.)

Lori: Aw, really?!?  I didn't know that!  I also played the French horn.  I was a mediocre flute player until junior high, and then switched to French horn and loved it so much.  I was pretty good at it, too.

Brett: Well, I may be biased as a brass player, but I'd say you climbed the ladder with that switch.

Lori: Oh, I agree.  But as an ex flute player, I have to defend it.  I never thought it belonged in the woodwind group, since they don't require a reed to play.

One of these things is not like the others

butter by flickr user a.meadowlark

Brett: Do you prefer butter, margarine, or oleo?

Lori: Eh, I don't know!  What do you prefer?

Brett: I don't really give a shit.  They all taste good.

Two-Hour Series Finale Tonight!

"Dunder Mifflin" Banner by flickr user Dalboz17

Brett: Are you sad The Office is ending?  I'm not sure where I'll be able to hear "that's what she said" jokes now.

Lori: I never really got into that show.  But a friend of mine loved it so much she just drove to Scranton, PA to attend the wrap party.

Brett:  Wow.  I've never loved any show quite that much.  Now, maybe if there was a luau at the warp party...

Lori: Like in Hawaii?  You'd have to consider selling a limb to get there.

The Password is 'password'

Amazon Cardboard Boxes by flickr user Akira Ohgaki

Brett: Have you ever used PayPal as the payee, or just as the payer?

Lori: Only as the payer, but I'd have to dust my memory to remember my password.

Brett: I am in awe at your response.

Lori: Really?  Hmm.  Living here is so expensive that my lifestyle just doesn't allow me to shop online very often.

Pass the Paste

Brett: Have you ever eaten paste?

Lori: I don't think so.  I read a story about a kid that was addicted to it.

Sir, Yes Sir

GI Joe, 1994 by flickr user Wizard of X

Brett: What was your favorite game to play as a kid?

Lori: It was a game that my brother and I made up called 'Sir.'  We took all the action figures/G.I. Joes that we could find, grouped them into teams and played.  We still talk about this game, it was intense.  If that doesn't count, I'll go with the board game Sorry.

Brett: I'd say 'Sir' totally counts.  Did one of the G.I. Joes have a jo he was trying to rescue?

Lori: Um, no.  Sir is very... Un-romantic.

The Hills are Alive

Doe a Deer by flickr user tmchapm

Brett: What's your favorite line in the Sound of Music Do-Re-Mi song?  Mine might be "Fa: a long long way to run."

Lori: "Ti: a drink with jam and bread."  It makes me think of my dad, who has explained the difference between jam and jelly to me countless times.
